Similarly, 1 US fluid ounce = 29.5735 ml while 1 Imperial fluid ounce = 28.4131 ml. This matters when following British recipes in the US or vice versa, and when buying fuel: a US gas station's price per gallon looks cheaper than a UK price per litre even before the exchange rate.
